For the work I am presenting for the CarpetVista Competition I was inspired by the identities and diversities of the collective social tissue. To create ONE IN MANY I based my work on the identity as individuals and the collective identity put together in harmony. My intention was to put an accent on the connections between many different singularities which flow and live together in harmony in a very heterogenic fabric which, with shared characteristics, can be identified as a unified structure, rich because of its diversity.

Para el trabajo que presento en el concurso de CarpetVista me inspiré en las identidades y la diversidad en el tramado colectivo. Para realizar ONE IN MANY me basé en la identidad como individuo y la identidad colectiva en armonía. Mi intención fue poner acento en las conexiones de muchas particularidades diferentes que fluyen y conviven en armonía en un tejido heterogéneo que, con características en común, se identifican como una estructura unida y rica por su diversidad.

My name is Rocío Ciocoletto, I am 28 and live in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I am a Textile Designer, graduated from Universidad de Buenos Aires, where I also had the privilege of becoming a teacher. Nowadays I work as a textile designer in a company that deals with the manufacture of fabrics and prints for clothing for international distribution; and I also work as a freelance designer from home. All along my career I have developed activities which had to do with artisanal fabrics and Latin-American design. I particularly enjoy exploring textile expression techniques because I like to come across and learn new tools –both artisanal and those related to the new developments of the industry. Expressing myself through design is what I am really passionate about.
Buenos Aires is the city that constantly inspires me: with its cultural richness, its music, architecture and varied cultural activities. What I enjoy the most of being here –and whenever it is possible, in the company of my dog Dylan- is to walk around and go through the city discovering the singularities of every neighbourhood. When I come back home, what I like to do is to lay and read or make some hand-embroidered pieces or knit… or sometimes just enjoy a day under the sun with my friends and Dylan.

Mi nombre es Rocío Ciocoletto, tengo 28 años y vivo en Buenos Aires, Argentina. Soy Diseñadora Textil, graduada de la Universidad de Buenos Aires, donde también tuve el privilegio de ejercer la docencia. Actualmente trabajo como diseñadora textil en una empresa dedicada a la confección de tejidos y estampas para indumentaria de distribución internacional y también trabajo como diseñadora freelance desde mi hogar. Realicé a lo largo de mi carrera diferentes actividades relacionadas con el tejido artesanal y el diseño latinoamericano, en especial me gusta mucho explorar técnicas de expresión textil porque disfruto conocer y aprender nuevas herramientas tanto artesanales como también conocer los nuevos desarrollos de la industria; expresarme a través del diseño es lo que más me apasiona.
Buenos Aires es una ciudad que me inspira constantemente con su riqueza cultural, con su música, arquitectura y diferentes actividades culturales. Lo que más disfruto hacer aquí, a veces acompañada por mi perro Dylan, es pasear y recorrer la ciudad descubriendo la particularidad de cada barrio. Cuando vuelvo a casa, me gusta sentarme a leer, tejer, bordar y otras veces sólo disfrutar de un día de sol con amigos y con Dylan.
